All done with pre-K!

Little boy W is not only 40 inches tall and 35 pounds, he is a pre-K graduate!

 First day of school......

Getting out of first day of school.

It is amazing to me what he has learned. He sings songs in french, he writes, and he even can read! We're so proud of him.

 Last day of school....

Yikes!

Okay, I forgot about this blog. I am occasionally reminded of it when random spam-like comments are made on my last post (what is the purpose of those, anyway?). I just went back and read through the posts and, boy is our life different now! Shall I show you?

Beau and William on Mardi Gras 2013, watching the Rex parade.

Moi- et ma petit garcon. Pardon my French- it is wretched, I know.

This is the most recent photo I can find of the house we live in now. William is pretending to be blown away by hurricane Isaac- one of our many photos from the week in which he was off school for the hurricane.
School, you say? Yes, school! He is in Pre-K at Metairie Academy for Advanced Studies. Impressed? We were!
We still have Wednesday with us.

Not much dawdling happens anymore for me, I must say. Today I actually have some free moments because William is at school and I am off work and determined to lounge a bit.

Rest in Peace

Fido was not the warmest of kitty cats, but she was with me for 11 years and we had our routine worked out. At the end she had a hard time getting up on the bed for her nightime cuddle. She started showing signs of pain from her advanced breast cancer and we had her put to sleep yesterday. Rest in peace Fido!

Cats in the sun

One of our favorite things about our new home is the light. The sun streams in the front of the house in the morning, and in the back where the bedrooms are in the afternoon. The cats follow the sun.

We do need curtains now to help with the heat, but we have soooo enjoyed the sun!

An Update

I keep thinking I need to update this blog, but until I looked today I didn't realize that it has been nearly a year since the last update! A lot has happened.

We have moved. To a house. With a yard. And a big kitchen. And an infamous landmark behind us....

That is a shot from our back yard of the 17th Street Canal. It overflowed in this neighborhood after Katrina and flooded many houses, but not ours. It is a raised house, so the water only got to the front steps (we're told).

We celebrated Halloween in our new house.

And Christmas.

Then our Fido developed breast cancer and had to have surgery. The doctor said she'll live for four to six months, and at this point she is still with us.

Since we have a second bedroom now we have room for lots of visitors. And we have had them!

But our biggest news is this....

We're expecting a baby boy! He is due September 7th. Its going to be a long, hot summer!

That's all for now.... (what? you expect a book?)
