Rest in Peace

Fido was not the warmest of kitty cats, but she was with me for 11 years and we had our routine worked out. At the end she had a hard time getting up on the bed for her nightime cuddle. She started showing signs of pain from her advanced breast cancer and we had her put to sleep yesterday. Rest in peace Fido!

Cats in the sun

One of our favorite things about our new home is the light. The sun streams in the front of the house in the morning, and in the back where the bedrooms are in the afternoon. The cats follow the sun.

We do need curtains now to help with the heat, but we have soooo enjoyed the sun!

An Update

I keep thinking I need to update this blog, but until I looked today I didn't realize that it has been nearly a year since the last update! A lot has happened.

We have moved. To a house. With a yard. And a big kitchen. And an infamous landmark behind us....

That is a shot from our back yard of the 17th Street Canal. It overflowed in this neighborhood after Katrina and flooded many houses, but not ours. It is a raised house, so the water only got to the front steps (we're told).

We celebrated Halloween in our new house.

And Christmas.

Then our Fido developed breast cancer and had to have surgery. The doctor said she'll live for four to six months, and at this point she is still with us.

Since we have a second bedroom now we have room for lots of visitors. And we have had them!

But our biggest news is this....

We're expecting a baby boy! He is due September 7th. Its going to be a long, hot summer!

That's all for now.... (what? you expect a book?)
